Tracy Elner - BSc (Hons)

Tracy is a Director and holds a BSc Eng in Metallurgy and Materials Science from London University. He began his career in the metals and commodities business in 1985 within Rolls Royce aerospace, developing hi-tech super alloys for the aerospace and power turbine sector. Subsequently he has been involved in trading the majority of the base LME metals, LBMA precious and PGM's, as well as raw materials such as Bauxite and Alumina.

Over the last eighteen years he has worked for and consulted to a number of groups, including; US's Teledyne Corporation, the Peruvian state mining group, Minpeco, Banesto Bank's Asturiana de Zinc, EBRD and in 1994 with Samsung Corporation's Natural Resources group where he assisted the set up of raw material supply, marketing and price mitigation of the Kazakhstan copper asset, recently floated as a FTSE 100 company Kazakhmys. Tracy joined Ashton Investments Ltd in August 2000 principally to explore new business opportunities in the Russian, CIS and Chinese metal, oil and power sector which gave significant exposure to various mitigation tools in both the insurance and derivatives markets to assist the structuring and financing of commodity trade flows. Islamic Banking became one his major focuses during the last seven years and he has assumed responsibility for the day to day management of Ashton Commodities Limited for both the Islamic Commodity Murabaha brokerage and Carbon Asset Projects.
